The restriction of fine particle from entering the annulas is of primary importance to the longevity of both the borehole and all downhole equipment. A robust screen design is imperative in order to resist both geomechanical and hydraulic loads which can be brought to bear. In order to improve the longevity of the bore as well as downhole equipment sturdy screens need to be designed to fullfill the required application.

The solution to this is to provide a screen with high strength characteristics, consistent filtration integrity and high resistance properties against erosion and plugging.

 
 
  CONSTRUCTION  
     
 
  1. Base Pipe - perforated to supply the required flow rate for the application.
  2. Inner Drainage Layer - forming a solid "stand-off" area between the base pipe and the Sintered Filtration Media.
  3. Sintered Filtration Layer - specific to the application as specified by technical specification.
    ▪ For lower flow rates Dutch Weave Filtration Media is recommended. This can yield    a maximum air flow permeability of 500ft3/min.
    ▪ For higher flow rates Square Weave Filtration Media is recommended. This can
       yield a maximum air flow permeability of 1,000ft3/min.
  4. A second drainage layer is applied for added drainage under the final layer.
  5. Stainless Steel, spiral welded protective Shroud forms the outer most layer. This too is perforated in order to allow the exact flow rate specified.

  TESTING PROCEDURES
 
     
 
  1. Glass Bead testing of Filtration Media.Glass Bead Testing is the most accurate method to confirm micron ratings. Full verified test results can be supplied on request.
  2. Torque Test. Maximum testing in accordance with screen specifications in order to confirm resistance to goemechanical pressures.
  3. Tensile Test. Maximum testing in accordance with screen specifications in order to confirm resistance to Hang Weight Pressure.
  4. Weld Shear Test.  This test is carried out on all crucial weld seams and joints to confirm resistance to geomechanical forces.
  5. Collapse Test. Maximum testing in accordance with specifications in order to confirm collapse resistance.
